About Me

Welcome to my portfolio! My name is George Evans and I am a Senior Technical Animator currently working at Studio Gobo, located in the Brighton & Hove area. During my time at Gobo, I have had the privilege of contributing to two AAA unannounced projects. On both projects, I played a key role in liaising with external vendors, ensuring clear communication, understanding their needs, meeting tight deadlines, and delivering high quality services according to the required brief. This has involved working across all areas within Technical Animation, providing Rigging, Tooling and Gameplay implementation across Unreal Engine and Custom Engines.

Before joining Studio Gobo, I worked at Hangar 13 as a Technical Animator during the development of TopSpin 2K25 and Mafia: The Old Country. In this role, I collaborated closely with the Animation team to provide technical support and feedback, particularly on the horse rig, ensuring a seamless integration of animations. I also worked with the facial animation team, implementing tooling such as preview body matching, and implementing their work into gameplay and Duels.

Prior to Hangar 13, I was part of Existent, where I worked as a Technical Animator on a cutting-edge VR platform designed to bring physicality to the virtual world. My career also began at DPS Games, where I worked on a free-to-play vehicle shooter called Tomorrow Falls, a title under the Wargaming umbrella.

A bit about me personally:

Creativity has always been a driving force in my life. From a young age, I was removed from the traditional school system, which allowed me to explore and develop my creative passions through various forms of expression, including writing, drawing, and other artistic pursuits. This early freedom fueled my passion for creating content, both for my personal enjoyment and to share with others.

I knew that creativity was where I wanted to build my career, so I pursued a path in Creative Media at college. There, I honed my skills in video editing, graphic design, and 3D animation, graduating with a Distinction Merit Merit. Following that, I studied Games Development at Falmouth University, where I learned the foundational principles of game development and team collaboration through hands-on challenges.

In my third year at Falmouth, I worked on a project called D-tail Entertainment, a company that aimed to integrate game development and video production under one roof. This experience inspired me to continue my entrepreneurial journey, leading to the founding of Burnthouse Games alongside three colleagues during my Masters in Entrepreneurship on the Launchpad program. Together, we developed our first title, Inn Trouble.

Outside of my professional work, I spend my spare time working on a variety of solo projects, including game development in Unreal Engine 5.7 and creating short animated sequences in Maya.

Thank you for taking the time to explore my portfolio!

Best regards,

George Evans
